Drought Citizen Observatory: Geography, Citizen Science And Collective Knowledge Creation
Short presentation of the event: THIS EVENT WILL PRESENT THE ‘CITIZEN DROUGHT OBSERVATORY‘ (OBSERVATORIO CIUDADANO DE LA SEQUÍA) PROJECT IN THE CONTEXT OF CITIZEN SCIENCE APPLICATIONS TO GEOGRAPHY. A PRACTICAL SESSION WILL BE HELD IN WHICH PARTICIPANTS WILL BE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE WITH THEIR PERCEPTIONS AND OPINIONS TO THE GENERATION OF INDICATORS THAT ARE PART OF THE RESEARCH ITSELF AND THAT WILL MEASURE OUR ADAPTATION CAPACITY TO HYDRO-CLIMATIC RISKS.
Objectives: THE MAIN OBJECTIVE IS FOR PARTICIPANTS TO APPROACH THE CITIZEN SCIENCE APPROACH AND ITS POSSIBLE APPLICATIONS IN GEOGRAPHY, AS WELL AS TO BECOME ‘CITIZEN SCIENTISTS’. DURING THE SESSION, IN ADDITION TO LEARNING ABOUT DROUGHT RISK AND THE NEED FOR VULNERABILITY ANALYSIS, PARTICIPANTS WILL ACTIVELY CONTRIBUTE TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF ADAPTIVE CAPACITY INDICATORS.
