The trades of Geography

Description:

Geography is still little-known among our pupils and students in Martinique. Indeed, they don’t really know what fields Geography covers, nor how useful it is. As a non-selective degree course, Geography is only occasionally their first acceptance. The discipline is still characterized by a number of clichés among the general public. One thing is certain: the geography studied at secondary school and that taught at university are not identical. Training geographers is essential. They help to understand and contextualize current events and social debates, while bringing a critical mindset and an appreciable vision, on multiple scales. That’s why the aim of this event is to present Geography as a scientific discipline in its own right, with a round-table discussion aimed at secondary school pupils and students.
