The “Geography for All” Podcast Marathon is an initiative aimed at promoting geography and expanding awareness of the discipline among diverse audiences. This event will take place on March 4 in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the University of Alicante, featuring a live recording of the podcast for four hours.
Two representatives from the Department of Human Geography will host the podcast, which will consist of half-hour segments covering various topics related to the field of geography through interviews conducted to members of the different Geography departments. We will also include the participation of students from different degrees who have been tought with some Geography course to share the valueo of geography for them.
Additionally, there will be a segment titled “Nobody Knows,” which will address anonymous questions submitted through a Google form. This form will be shared with students from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters as well as high school students until March 1, 2025. This segment draws inspiration from a popular podcast format used by two well-known comedians in Spain. We will also ask to the public a central question for discussion: “What would you like to know about geography?”
The podcast will be broadcast live via video streaming and later made available on the faculty’s YouTube channel as well as the website of the GEOPOLITICA research group, with which the activity’s coordinator is affiliated. After the event, the marathon will be edited so that each thematic block can be accessed independently for educational purposes or for wider dissemination of geographical knowledge.
It’s worth noting that the coordinator of this activity has hosted a podcast focused on migration and interculturality since 2020, ensuring that the event benefits from the organizer’s experience and the technical resources of the University of Alicante.
