Il laboratorio “Esplorazioni e rappresentazioni geografiche. La città vista dalla terra e osservata dallo spazio” è un mini-progetto didattico organizzato dal centro di Geomorfologia Integrata per l’Area del Mediterraneo (CGIAM), in occasione della “GeoNight2025”, e rivolto agli studenti degli istituti comprensivi della città di Potenza. Com’è cambiata la rappresentazione del mondo? Quali sono gli strumenti e le tecniche per osservare e descrivere la realtà? Sono queste le informazioni di base che i ricercatori del Centro forniranno agli studenti offrendo un percorso didattico storico-geografico che ripercorre la nascita della cartografia scientifica per raccontarne l’evoluzione e fino all’applicazione delle moderne tecniche di osservazione della terra grazie all’utilizzo dei satelliti.
Mescolando la didattica frontale alle esercitazioni in classe, i ragazzi – coadiuvati dai ricercatori del Centro e dagli insegnanti – si cimenteranno nel mestiere del cartografo moderno e offriranno la loro rappresentazione della città e di alcuni luoghi iconemici del mondo grazie alla visualizzazione 3D delle immagini satellitari. Il risultato finale sarà la realizzazione di cartografie partecipate sia attraverso supporti cartacei (disegni, cartelloni ecc.) e sia attraverso gli strumenti e le applicazioni offerte da Google Earth (Earth, Voyager, Street View, Timelapse). Gli elaborati finali saranno esposti e raccontati dai ragazzi nella giornata conclusiva del 4 aprile 2025.
The laboratory “Geographical explorations and representations. The city view from the Earth and observed from Space” is a mini-educational project organized by the center of Integrated Geomorphology for the Mediterranean Area (CGIAM), on the occasion of “GeoNight2025”, and aimed at students of educational institutions in the city of Potenza. How has the representation of the world changed? What are the tools and techniques for observing and describing reality? This is the basic information that the Center’s researchers will provide to students, offering a historical-geographical educational path that traces the birth of scientific cartography to describe its evolution and up to the application of modern earth observation techniques thanks to the use of satellites. Mixing frontal teaching with classroom exercises, the students – assisted by the Center’s researchers and teachers – will try their hand at the profession of the modern cartographer and will offer their representation of the city and some iconic places in the world thanks to the 3D visualization of satellite images. The final result will be the creation of participatory maps both through paper media (drawings, posters, etc.) and through the tools and applications offered by Google Earth (Earth, Voyager, Street View, Timelapse). The final works will be exhibited and explained by the students on the final day of 4 April 2025.
