Un viaggio tra arte e geografia: la comunicazione degli impatti del cambiamento climatico
Description:
The meeting, open to the entire community, will offer an informative and engaging experience on the themes of the relationship between human and the environment. Attention will be focused on the impacts of climate change treated from two different points of view, the artistic and the geographical.
Starting from the analysis of the artistic reproductions, the aim is to analyse how the way of “making art” and the communicative purpose of art itself has changed. Critical issues will be supported by the geographical analysis of how the environment has changed over time, human’s relationship with it and the resulting impacts. The communication of human and climate change impacts on the environment is a subject that is dealt with in various fields of investigation, but the interaction of artistic and geographical knowledge is intended to make the proposal accessible, usable and comprehensible both to the academic public but above all to the entire community.
In a ‘GeoArt’ pathway, participants will be invited on an evolutionary journey through time and thus actively involved in the analysis, with the possibility of creating their own work of art related to the communication of the climate crisis and inspired by the notions learnt.
The event will be attended by experts in art and geography, immersed in an environment that is already a usual treat of culture: the Casa delle Culture in the heart of the Vallemiano district, represents a place that encourages the reuse and redevelopment of historical and artistic buildings. It is in fact the walls of the former cold storage room of the Ancona slaughterhouse, which aims to create an environment where people from different cultures and backgrounds can meet and interact constructively.
Main objectives:
– How environmental characteristics influence the culture of a population;
– Climate change and its impacts;
– Risks arising from human environmental transformations;
– Potential of different spheres of knowledge to inform on the climate crisis;
– The role of geography in analysing climate change and planning sustainable solutions;
– How art can represent, raise awareness and inspire action to address climate change.
