Planets outside the Solar System and their Earth Similarity Index

V predavanju bomo predstavili trenutno stanje na področju raziskav planetov zunaj Osončja in nekaj ekstremnih primerov le-teh. V nadaljevanju bomo predstavili koncept indeksa podobnosti Zemlji, s katerim skušamo na osnovi znanih podatkov o planetih zunaj Osončja oceniti naravne razmere na teh telesih, predvsem v luči pogojev za razvoj take oblike življenja, kot jo poznamo na Zemlji. Na koncu bomo predstavili nekaj Zemlji podobnih eksoplanetov. V primeru jasnega vremena bomo po predavanju izvedli še astronomsko opazovanje nočnega neba in demonstracijo merjenja svetlobnega onesnaževanja.

In this talk, we will present the current state of planetary exploration beyond the Solar System, and some extreme examples. We will then introduce the concept of the Earth Similarity Index, which attempts to assess the natural conditions of extra-solar planets based on known data about them, especially in the light of the conditions for the development of life as we know it on Earth. Finally, we will present some Earth-like exoplanets. In case of clear weather, we will also carry out astronomical observations of the night sky and a demonstration of light pollution measurement after the lecture.
