Il progetto lavora sul valore del patrimonio ambientale e culturale della Riserva naturale regionale “Lago di Tarsia” (Calabria) e sull’importanza della tutela e della conservazione degli habitat naturali e delle specie da parte dell’Ente gestore. Attività finalizzate all’educazione allo sguardo prevedono, a seguito di un momento di presentazione delle Riserve e delle finalità istitutive, un percorso lungo un sentiero didattico, durante il quale gli studenti potranno esplorare e conoscere aspetti naturalistici e antropici del territorio e gli operatori fornire dati e informazioni sul valore e sull’importanza della loro tutela. Gli studenti, con le informazioni e le competenze acquisite e affiancati da organizzatori e docenti, saranno chiamati a realizzare, come gruppo classe, una loro mappa di comunità, la cui legenda sarà formata da una serie di schede di approfondimento realizzate singolarmente dagli studenti su specifiche componenti naturali e antropiche. Tra le schede di approfondimento sarà scelta e premiata quella più rappresentativa e significativa, a testimonianza di un’attenta lettura del territorio.

The project works on the value of the environmental and cultural heritage of the “Lago di Tarsia” Nature regional reserve (Calabria) and on the importance of the protection and conservation of natural habitats and species by the Management body. Activities aimed at gaze education include, following a presentation of the Reserves and his institutional purposes, a virtual route an educational path, during which students will be able to explore and learn about natural and anthropogenic aspects of the territory and operators will provide data and information on the value and importance of their protection. The students, with the information and skills acquired and supported by organizers and teachers, will be called to realize, as a class group, their Parish Map, whose legend will be formed by a series of fact sheets made individually by the students on specific natural and anthropic components. Among the information sheets will be chosen and rewarded the most representative and significant, as evidence of a careful reading of the territory.

La “Riserva Lago di Tarsia” 

La Riserva naturale regionale del Lago di Tarsia, situata in provincia di Cosenza, è stata istituita dalla Regione Calabria nel 1990 (L. R. della Calabria n. 52 del 5 maggio 1990 e ss. mm. e ii.) su proposta dell’Associazione di protezione ambientale “Amici della Terra Italia”.
È anche Zona Speciale di Conservazione (ZSC) per la Rete Natura 2000, ai sensi della Direttiva Habitat (92/43/CE). L’estensione è di circa 450 ettari e la gestione è attribuita ad Amici della Terra.
Il Lago di Tarsia, un bacino lacustre a monte della diga delle Strette di Tarsia, ricadente nel territorio dei comuni di Tarsia e di S. Sofia d’Epiro (Cs), rappresenta un’area di notevole interesse naturalistico per la sussistenza di numerosi ecosistemi di pregio e per la grande varietà di specie vegetali e animali.
La Riserva si compone di due diverse aree: quella sulle sponde del lago di Tarsia, nei pressi dell’omonimo comune e quella che si estende sulle colline del versante orientale dove sorge Santa Sofia d’Epiro.
In particolare nella sua parte collinare è presente un magnifico esempio di macchia mediterranea, incontaminata e scarsamente antropizzata costituita da leccio, olmo, tamerice e corbezzolo. La parte a valle, coincidente con il bacino lacustre, è un habitat naturale per una grande varietà di pesci, anfibi, rettili e uccelli acquatici.
Tra i servizi avviati dall’Ente gestore i più importanti sono:
– I Centri Visitatori di Tarsia (Cs) e di S. Sofia d’Epiro (Cs)
– Il Museo di Storia Naturale della Calabria con Sezione a: Tarsia, ospitante i Diorami dedicati alle Aree Protette della Calabria; S. Sofia d’Epiro, ospitante l’Erbario del Crati.
Diversi sono i servizi e le strutture creati a favore della conservazione e tutela della biodiversità e della fruizione didattica e naturalistica.

The “Lago di Tarsia” Reserve 

The “Lago di Tarsia” Nature Regional Reserve, is located in the province of Cosenza. The Reserve was founded by the Calabria Region in 1990 (Regional Law n. 52 of 5th may 1990), following the proposal of the italian association, “Amici della Terra”, which focuses on the environmental protection.
The Reserve is also a Special Conservation Area for the “Natura 2000” Network, within the meaning of Habitats Directive (92/43/CE). The area is about 140 hectares of land and the management is attributed to “Amici della Terra”.
Lake Tarsia, a lake basin upstream of the Strette di Tarsia dam, falling within the territory of the municipalities of Tarsia and S. Sofia d’Epiro (Cs), represents an area of considerable naturalistic interest due to the existence of numerous ecosystems of value and for the great variety of plant and animal species.
The Reserve consists of two different areas: the one on the shores of the lake, near the municipality of Tarsia, and the one that extends over the hills of the eastern side where Santa Sofia d’Epiro stands.
In particular, in the hillside there’s a magnificent example of Mediterranean maquis, which is unspoiled and barely populated by humans, consisting of holm oak, elm, tamarisk and Arbutus. The downstream area, matching with the lake basin, is a natural habitat for a great variety of fish, amphibians, reptiles and aquatic birds.
Among the services created by the management body, the most important are:
– the visitor centres of Tarsia (CS) and of S. Sofia d’Epiro (CS)
– the Natural History Museum of Calabria, with departments in: Tarsia, hosting the “Diorami”, dedicated to the Protected Areas of Calabria; S. Sofia d’Epiro, hosting the Herbarium of Crati.
There are different services and facilities created for the conservation and preservation of biodiversity and for a natural and educational purpose.
